Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

Knit Friends (knitfriends.com) is run by Greenwood St Studio (“we”, “us”), a sole proprietorship owned by Kate Lee in Seattle, WA. This policy explains what the site collects, why, and the choices you have.

2. What we collect

We do not require an account, and we do not collect personal information unless you send it to us.

  • Email. If you write to us, we receive your email address and message and keep them in our mailbox so we can reply. We do not add you to any mailing list.
  • Server logs. Our hosting provider (Vercel) keeps standard request logs, such as IP address, browser type, and the page requested, for security and reliability. These are retained briefly and not used to identify you.

3. Data stored in your browser

The knitting tools remember your settings so you can pick up where you left off. This data lives only in your browser and is never sent to us.

  • Knitting Glossary keeps your favorite terms and the last tab you used in localStorage.
  • Stitch Pattern Studio keeps typefaces you upload in IndexedDB. Your chart settings travel in the page URL when you copy a link.
  • Language. Your EN / KO choice is kept in localStorage.

You can clear all of this at any time by clearing site data for knitfriends.com in your browser.

4. Embedded videos

The Knitting Glossary shows how-to videos from YouTube using its privacy-enhanced embed (youtube-nocookie.com). YouTube may still set cookies and collect data once you play a video, under Google's Privacy Policy. Nothing loads from YouTube until you open a term.

5. Advertising (Google AdSense)

We show ads from Google AdSense on two pages only: the Stitch Pattern Studio and the Knitting Glossary. Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.

  • Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and other sites on the Internet.
  • You may opt out of personalized advertising at Google Ads Settings, or opt out of third-party vendors' cookies at www.aboutads.info.
  • Visitors in the European Economic Area, the UK, and Switzerland are asked for consent before any advertising cookies are set. You can change your choice later through the consent message on those pages.
  • How Google uses data from sites that use its services is described at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

6. Cookies

The site itself sets no cookies. Cookies may be set by Google AdSense on the two ad-supported pages, and by YouTube when you play a video, as described above.

7. Sharing and retention

We do not sell personal information. Data is shared only with the service providers named in this policy:

  • Vercel (hosting) and Cloudflare (DNS, CDN)
  • Google (AdSense, YouTube)

Emails you send us are kept as long as needed to reply and for our own records. You can ask us to delete them at any time.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you, or to object to certain processing. Email us at greenwoodststudio@gmail.com and we will respond within a reasonable time.

9. Children

This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

10. Changes

We may update this policy as the site changes. The effective date at the top shows when it was last revised. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
